How do we participate in online church?

As someone who has been part of online communities for over 10 years I'm a bit biased when I say that online church can be a good thing. Part of the prejudice against it is that people are unfamiliar with it and have heard horror stories about the online world. I understand both viewpoints as our ch...

Personality Types - Are they really worthwhile?

I've done a fair amount of personality testing as I used to work for a test company and I find these things interesting :paranoid: . MBTI and the other tests I've done helps me understand why I find some tasks hard and others easy. It helps me appreciate that others are different and that the strate...

So why exactly do we do online church?

I did reply but found it very hard, as Caroline said to answer the personality questions. I used to sell personality tests a long time ago and I think I can see what the underlying assumptions are and I suspect I know what the hypothesis that is being tested is. Probably not a good test subject then!

Once Saved Always Saved ?

Well once saved always saved points to so many deep questions. Ernest has already pointed towards one of them which is the question of the limits of salvation whereby Christians have had many different responses from an exclusivist postion (only a very small number are saved) to universalist (everyo...

Church

One of the most powerful things about the internet and internet churches is that it allows people from all over the world to pray together. I have been bolder in offline churches in asking for prayer as a result of my experience online.

Pioneers for Life featuring Pam's 'pioneer's story'

i-church gets a mention in 'Evangelism in a Spiritual Age; communicating faith in a changing culture' (forward by Graham Cray) in an essay by Mark Ireland. However the book is from 2005 and i-church is mentioned as something that is just starting. We also get a mention in Steve Hollinghurst's 2010 b...

One interesting thing that Celtic Dreamer's post raises the that of whether it is possible to be a Christian outside of a community of fellow Christians. I did a workshop on new perspectives on St Paul this morning and I got thinking about how Paul describes the Christian community as the body of Ch...

Logos is complicated! I would say yes because following Jesus is not easy and we need other people to help us and challenge us and a church community can do that as we grow as disciples of Christ. But that doesn't mean that you have to stay at the same church for all time or that sometimes personalities get in the way an...

Death on the cross

The disciples weren't expecting Jesus to die either. They saw him as the long awaited Messiah who was foretold through the prophets. Many of the people who followed Jesus hoped that he would drive the Roman army out of their land. But he didn't. There are a number of ways of talking about why Jesus ...

Can someone recommend a bible?

I've got that in the car right now and I've just got to Joshua. I find the single voice a bit boring but I'm sure others prefer it rather than lots of voices. I love the Bible Society's podcasts of the New Testament which is available on i-tunes for free. When studying Paul's letter to the Romans I ...
