There are reports of explosions at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. Police say there are fatalities. Many very young people attended this concert and distraught parents have been unable to contact them in the confusion.

Please pray for all affected.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the families of the Manchester atrocity.

God's strength at this awful time.

:votive2: :votive2: :votive2: for all those injured or affected, and for the families and friends of those who were killed.

:votive1: Thanks for the safety of our goddaughter, who was at the concert. And for Facebook, which meant it was only 5 or 10 minutes before we heard that she was OK.
Kindness is underrated.

In the triumph of prayer
Twofold is the spell.
With the folding of hands
There's a spreading of wings
And the soul's lifted up to invisible lands
And ineffable peace .....

Compassionate God and Father of all,
we are horrified at violence
in so many parts of the world.
It seems that none are safe, and some are terrified.

Hold back the hands that kill and maim;
turn around the hearts that hate.
Grant instead your strong Spirit of Peace -
peace that passes our understanding
but changes lives,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

A prayer for peace in our world

Make your ways known upon earth, Lord God,
your saving power among all peoples.
Renew your Church in holiness
and help us to serve you with joy.
Guide the leaders of all nations,
that justice may prevail throughout the world.
Let not the needy be forgotten,
nor the hope of the poor be taken away.
Make us instruments of your peace
and let your glory be over all the earth. Amen

For the peace of the world

Almighty God,

from whom all thought of truth and peace proceed:

kindle, we pray, in the hearts of all, the true love of peace

and guide with your pure and peaceable wisdom

those who take counsel for the nations of the earth

that in tranquility your kingdom may go forward,

till the earth be filled with your knowledge of your love;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A prayer for peace in our communities

Gracious God,
We pray for peace in our communities this day.
We commit to you all who work for peace and an end to tensions,
And those who work to uphold law and justice.
We pray for an end to fear,
For comfort and support to those who suffer.
For calm in our streets and cities,
That people may go about their lives in safety and peace.
In your mercy, hear our prayers,
now and always. Amen

For peace and justice

God our deliverer,

defender of the poor and needy;

when the foundations of the earth are shaking,

give strength to your people to uphold justice and fight all wrong,

in the name of your son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

David Stancliffe (1942-)

Prayers for Peace

Most gracious God and Father,
in whose will is our peace:
turn our hearts and the hearts of all to yourself,
that by the power of your Spirit
the peace which is founded on righteousness
may be established throughout the whole world;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

God, our refuge and strength,
bring near the day when wars shall cease
and poverty and pain shall end,
that earth may know the peace of heaven
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Litany of Peace

Let us pray for all who suffer as a result of conflict,

and ask that God may give us peace:

for the service men and women who have died in the violence of war,

each one remembered by and known to God;

May God give peace

God give peace

for those who love them in death as in life,

offering the distress of our grief and the sadness of our loss;

May God give peace

God give peace

for all members of the armed forces who are in danger this day,

remembering family, friends and all who pray for their safe return;

May God give peace

God give peace

for civilian women, children and men whose lives are disfigured by war or terror,

calling to mind in penitence the anger and hatreds of humanity;

May God give peace

God give peace

for peace-makers and peace-keepers,

who seek to keep this world secure and free;

May God give peace

God give peace

for all who bear the burden and privilege of leadership,

political, military and religious;

asking for gifts of wisdom and resolve in the search for

reconciliation and peace.

May God give peace

God give peace

O God of truth and justice,

we hold before you those whose memory we cherish,

and those whose names we will never know.

Help us to lift our eyes above the torment of this broken world,

and grant us the grace to pray for those who wish us harm.

As we honour the past, may we put our faith in your future;

for you are the source of life and hope,

now and for ever. Amen.
